About Duong

Everything should be made as simple as possible

Hi, I’m Duong, a backend engineer who’s happy to pick whatever language fits the job. This blog is where I write down what I learn so the next person (often future me) doesn’t have to figure it out from scratch.

What I work on

I love building systems at scale, the kind that keep humming along when traffic jumps 10x on a random Tuesday. A big part of that is system design and architecture: picking the right pieces, drawing the boxes and arrows, and knowing which trade-offs will come back to bite you later.

I also love building products. Great architecture is fun, but the best part is shipping something people actually use and enjoy. I like being close to the “why” behind a feature, not just the “how”.

And yes, I enjoy the unglamorous parts too: clear error messages, good logs, and tests that actually catch bugs.

What I care about

  • Simple code. If it takes a meeting to explain a function, the function is probably wrong.
  • Writing things down. A short guide today saves hours of digging later.
  • Learning in public. I’ll share what worked, and what very much didn’t.

What you’ll find here

Practical, step-by-step guides with commands and code that actually worked, notes on tools I try, and lessons from building software with a team. Start with the welcome post, or browse posts by topic.
